Nick Schilder | The Singer Songwriter Show

Theater de Voorveghter in Hardenberg traces its origins to 1989, when it grew out of a small hall on Badhuisplein 3 that had already been hosting modest cultural activities for some years. Since then the venue has expanded considerably, and what was once a single intimate space has developed into a multi room complex with two dedicated theater halls alongside three cinema screens, one of which also functions as a smaller theater space. That combination of theatrical and cinematic programming under one roof gives De Voorveghter a character that is broader than a typical regional performance venue. Volunteers are central to how the building operates, taking on the work of welcoming audiences, supporting artists and ensuring that productions run smoothly. The programming at De Voorveghter covers a wide range of genres and formats. Past concerts have included singer songwriters, rock acts and jazz influenced performances, with artists such as Anneke van Giersbergen and the Leif De Leeuw Band among those who have appeared on its stage. The venue also presents music theater and other crossover productions, fitting for a space that sits at the intersection of theater and live music. For Hardenberg, a town in the Overijssel region of the eastern Netherlands, De Voorveghter serves as the main cultural hub, drawing audiences from across the surrounding area for programming that ranges from intimate solo performances to more elaborate staged productions.
