Akhnaton is a cultural venue in Amsterdam founded in 1953 as a Catholic student association and located on the Nieuwezijds Kolk since 1971. Operated by the Stichting Akhnaton foundation, it has served as a center for new music styles including salsa, reggae, punk and hip hop. The venue has been closely involved with social, political and cultural developments in Amsterdam throughout its history.
