3FM has announced who will be moving into the 3FM Serious Request Glass House this year. Barend van Deelen, Nellie Benner and Wijnand Speelman will be locked up in Arnhem for a full week, from December 18 to 24, 2026. There they'll make radio day and night and raise money for the Dutch Burns Foundation. Earlier in the day it was already revealed that Barend and Wijnand are taking part, with the third participant still kept under wraps.
For Nellie Benner, it's the first time she'll stay in the Glass House herself. In previous editions she cheered on her colleagues while working on the square as a 3FM DJ. She calls it an incredible opportunity. Together with Barend, with whom she hosts the afternoon show, and Wijnand, she'll be working for the good cause.
Nellie ties her commitment to her own situation as a mother of a two year old daughter. When she sees parents with small children in the hospital, it breaks her heart, she says. That's why she wants to raise as much money as possible to improve burn care, so that children grow up with less pain, fewer scars and less trauma.
The campaign centers on the children's burn center in Beverwijk. Almost every day in the Netherlands, a child with severe burns is admitted to a burn center, and an accident like that changes the life of the whole family, leaving physical and mental scars that last a lifetime. The current building is outdated and, according to the organization, that stands in the way of good care. The Burns Foundation therefore wants to build a new center. The proceeds will go toward new treatment methods, family centered care and research into lab grown skin from a patient's own cells.
This year the DJs face an extra challenge too: during the campaign week they have to hand in their mobile phones. Contact with the outside world is only possible through the radio, the social room or visits to the Glass House on the Markt in Arnhem. As usual, the DJs won't eat, but they'll get juices at set times. From December 18 to 24, the station and 3FM's online channels will be dedicated to the campaign, with live radio and online content around the clock.
