Cardi B wins $60,000 from blogger Tasha K after new violations

Gossip blogger Tasha K, whose full name is Latasha Kebe, has agreed to pay rapper Cardi B $60,000 following a series of new violations of a previously reached settlement agreement. The deal was filed in court on Tuesday, June 30, and reviewed by both Rolling Stone and Billboard. Both parties describe the arrangement as a way to avoid further legal battles, along with the costs and uncertainty that come with them.

The current case is a follow up to the high profile defamation lawsuit that Cardi B, born Belcalis Almánzar, won in 2022. A federal jury found at the time that Kebe had defamed the rapper with baseless claims about drug use, sexually transmitted diseases, and prostitution. The jury awarded Cardi B $4 million in damages. Kebe stated she was unable to pay that amount and filed for bankruptcy protection in 2023. A judge rejected her request to have the debt discharged, after which both parties reached a payment arrangement under which Kebe would pay off $1.2 million over five years and cover the remainder later. In exchange, the blogger publicly promised to stay silent about Cardi B and her family.

That promise did not last long. Kebe posted recent messages on social media and made comments on a radio program about Cardi's estranged husband Offset and about Stefon Diggs, the NFL player who is the father of Cardi's youngest child. Cardi's attorneys stated they were forced to constantly monitor Kebe's social media channels because of an ongoing cat and mouse game that had been going on for more than a year. They documented more than two dozen serious violations of the non disparagement clause.

In April, Cardi B filed a motion asking the court to impose financially painful sanctions on the UnWineWithTashaK host. The judge ultimately ordered Kebe to reimburse the legal costs Cardi had incurred in enforcing compliance, a bill of over $110,000 according to the rapper's attorneys. Under the newly agreed settlement, Kebe is allowed to cut that amount nearly in half to $60,000, provided she pays quickly. She must transfer $30,000 within one month and the remaining $30,000 before the end of the year, with the debt guaranteed by Kebe's husband and her companies. If she fails to meet these terms, Cardi B is entitled to pursue the full $110,000.

The new settlement resolves only the contempt of court issue and has no effect on other ongoing legal matters between the two women. The outstanding $4 million debt remains in place, as does the separate lawsuit Cardi B is pursuing against Kebe's husband for allegedly shielding shared assets to make collection more difficult. Representatives for Cardi B declined to comment, and Kebe's attorney did not respond to a request for a statement.
