FRIDAY performs new single Summer Rain live on NPO Radio 2

Dutch band FRIDAY stopped by the morning show Jan Willem Start Op! on NPO Radio 2 last Thursday, where they performed their latest single Summer Rain live in the studio. The band, made up of singers Koen Brouwer and Quinten Huigen, brought the track to life right there in front of the microphone.

FRIDAY was founded in 2020 by Brouwer and Huigen, and the two have been steadily building their careers in Dutch pop music ever since. A live performance on a national radio show like Jan Willem Start Op! marks a new milestone for the band, and Summer Rain makes it clear they have been keeping busy in the studio.

During the chat with host Jan Willem, the origin of the band name also came up. He pointed out that googling the name does not exactly lead you straight to the band. Brouwer explained the choice was deliberate: "Friday is just the best day of the week and it wraps up the working week." He added: "We have had our fair share of struggles finding our way, but in the end we decided to go all in on the music and always celebrate the weekend. And you do that on a Friday."

The meaning behind Summer Rain also came up in the conversation. Huigen described the track as "that wonderfully refreshing rain of a love that rises above everything," giving the single a romantic yet liberating feel. For fans of both Dutch and English language pop music, FRIDAY is definitely a band worth keeping an eye on.
