About Jagged Edge

Formed in London in 1985, Jagged Edge made their name in the glam metal scene and are known in the US as Jagged Edge UK to distinguish them from the American R&B group sharing the name. The band went through plenty of lineup shuffles before settling on the version that actually made it to record, featuring Swedish vocalist Matt Alfonzetti, guitarist Myke Gray, and a rhythm section drawn from alumni of Tokyo Blade, UFO, and the Bam Bam Boys. That lineup landed a deal with Polydor Records and put out the EP Trouble in 1989, followed by their debut album Fuel for Your Soul in 1990. Before the album lineup even came together, Jagged Edge had already toured the UK with Ozzy Osbourne in 1988, which says plenty about their live credentials. Polydor dropped them after the album cycle and the band called it a day in July 1991. Gray went on to co write the Right Said Fred hit You're My Mate, while Alfonzetti and Gray later reunited in the band Red, White and Blues, releasing the album Shine.
