Podium aan Zee sits inside the Kurhaus complex on the seafront boulevard of Scheveningen, one of the most recognizable buildings on the Dutch coast. The Kurhaus itself carries considerable history: it famously hosted the Rolling Stones in 1964, a concert that descended into chaos and was cut short. That legacy gives the building a particular resonance for anyone with an interest in the history of live music in the Netherlands.

The venue presents a varied programme that spans music, theatre, and other cultural events. Its musical range is broad, taking in reggae acts such as Heights Meditation and Mr Lion, as well as folk, country and roots performers. The monthly Dune Sessions, organized in partnership with The Hague club PAARD, extend its programming reach further, and the venue plays a role in larger Scheveningen events such as the Aftersea Festival. It has also hosted Irish music and dance evenings, giving a sense of how eclectic the booking policy can be from one week to the next.

The setting, right at the sea in one of the busiest seaside districts in the Netherlands, shapes the character of Podium aan Zee as much as the programme does. The combination of a grand historic building, a coastal location, and a programme that moves between intimate cultural evenings and festival collaborations makes it a distinctive fixture on The Hague's live music map.
