Formed in Ipswich in 2009, Basement built their reputation on a blend of emo, post hardcore and alternative rock that drew comparisons to Title Fight and Superheaven. Their first two albums, I Wish I Could Stay Here and Colourmeinkindness, landed quickly before a hiatus took the band offline in 2012. They came back in 2014, toured hard, and signed to Fueled by Ramen ahead of their fourth album Beside Myself in 2018, which arrived with singles like "Disconnect" and "Stigmata". A second hiatus followed a 2019 support run with Weezer and the Pixies, but the band never really went away for long. Their song "Covet" finding a huge audience on TikTok helped pull them back properly around 2023, and Run for Cover re signed them. A deluxe anniversary edition of Colourmeinkindness came out that same year, giving fans a chance to revisit one of the records that made their name.
