Dutch trance duo 4 Strings, made up of DJs Carlo Resoort and Jan De Vos, built their reputation on a track that went through quite a journey before becoming a global hit. Their 2001 single "Into the Night" got a vocal makeover and re emerged as "Take Me Away (Into the Night)", eventually landing as a worldwide dancefloor favourite. The voice behind it was German singer Susanne Teutenberg, though Vanessa van Hemert was the official face of the act, appearing in videos and credited on releases for some time before the truth came out. Their run of vocal trance hits continued with "Diving", "Let it Rain" and "Summer Sun", all featuring Teutenberg. When Van Hemert left the group in 2005, Resoort kept things moving by collaborating with singers including Tina Cousins, Nikola Materne and Samantha Fox. Across their three studio albums, Believe, Turn It Around and Mainline, 4 Strings carved out a solid spot in the early 2000s European trance scene.
