About
New Jersey nu metal outfit 40 Below Summer spent the early 2000s grinding through the kind of label chaos that kills most bands. They signed to Warner's London Sire imprint, put out their major label debut Invitation to the Dance in 2001, and then watched the label fold two months later thanks to a corporate merger. Somehow they kept going, landing on Razor & Tie for their second record The Mourning After in 2003, which gave them a genuine MTV2 moment with the single "Self Medicate" getting spins on Headbangers Ball. After splitting in 2005 and a couple of brief reunions, they permanently reformed in 2011 and have kept at it since. The band released a string of demos as The Last Dance while still technically broken up, and they have continued building their catalogue in the years since, with their latest album Untethered arriving in 2025.
