Few Dutch acts have managed to make cabaret and pop feel this inseparable, but Acda en de Munnik pulled it off across nine studio albums. The Amsterdam duo, Thomas Acda and Paul de Munnik, built their early reputation through theater programs, with songs like "Als het vuur gedood is" and "Het regent zonnestralen" only becoming true classics years after release, sustained by annual appearances near the top of the beloved Dutch Top 2000. Their breakthrough hit "Niet of nooit geweest" reached No. 2 in 1998, and they also found time to form the supergroup De Poema's with Van Dik Hout, scoring a No. 1 hit with "Ze maakt het verschil" in 2001. After Paul de Munnik pushed for a split in 2015, the duo stayed apart for nearly a decade. Their 2023 reunion was anything but quiet: six sold out nights at the Ziggo Dome, a new album called AEDM, and a documentary series on BNNVARA tracing how they got back together. They also played Pinkpop for the first time and gave a surprise free concert in the Vondelpark.
