About

Also known as: Ad van den Berg, Adrianus van den Berg

Adrian Vandenberg is the Dutch guitarist who played the iconic solo on Whitesnake's number one hit "Here I Go Again" and went on to co write all the music for their follow up record Slip of the Tongue, even though a wrist injury kept him off the actual recordings. Steve Vai stepped in to track the guitars, but Vandenberg was healed in time to tour the album alongside him. Before Whitesnake, he had already built a following with his own band Vandenberg, whose ballad "Burning Heart" cracked the Top 40 and kept him from joining Coverdale's outfit earlier than he did. He later played on the stripped down Whitesnake album Restless Heart, swapping the neo classical metal approach for a bluesier, Hendrix influenced tone. Outside of music, he is also a skilled airbrush artist who painted the covers for two of his own albums.
