Few bands have pulled off a comeback as wild as Aerosmith's. The Boston hard rock five piece built their reputation in the 1970s on blues drenched riffs and the electric chemistry between frontman Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry, earning nicknames like "the Bad Boys from Boston" and the "Toxic Twins" along the way. Classics like "Dream On", "Sweet Emotion", and "Walk This Way" cemented their status before drug addiction and internal fallout temporarily tore the band apart. After regrouping in the mid 1980s, they came back harder than before. The Run D.M.C. collab on "Walk This Way", then Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip turned them into one of the biggest acts on the planet. "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" gave them their first number one. With over 150 million records sold worldwide, they remain the best selling American hard rock band ever. A vocal injury to Tyler in 2023 ended their farewell tour, and in 2024 the band officially retired from touring.
