About
Based in Berlin, AFAR is a duo whose sound pulls in several directions at once: psychedelic Krautwave built around analogue synths, bursts of raw guitar, and a mechanically driven pulse, all held together by a hypnotic vocal presence. They move comfortably between grunge, trip hop, and electronic techno influenced territory, and their live shows are known for feeling both intimate and enormous at the same time. Their third studio album, Changing Rules, works as a kind of sonic manifesto, exploring themes of presence, eruption, and resistance. It has been described as a romantic revolt against noise and stagnation, aimed squarely at listeners who still believe in the power of something real.
