Air Formation have been quietly building one of the more distinctive sounds in the UK post rock and shoegaze world since the late 1990s, drawing on the hazy, guitar drenched noise of Flying Saucer Attack, Spacemen 3, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Their signature mix of heavily delayed guitars, droning keyboards, and soft, almost buried vocals gives their records a weightless, immersive quality that rewards patient listening. Six albums, three EPs, and five singles across a career that has seen breaks, reformations, and side projects speak to a band that keeps finding reasons to come back. After splitting in 2011 and reforming in 2014, they returned to their home on Club AC30 Records with the album Near Miss in 2018. Then in early 2024 they dropped the single Finding Gravity ahead of a self titled album released in April of that year, their sixth full length and arguably a statement of renewed purpose from a band that never really chased the spotlight.
