Winning the 2009 season of Amici di Maria De Filippi with a voice her teachers described as having a sandblasted timbre, Alessandra Amoroso turned that breakthrough into one of Italy's most consistent pop careers. Her debut single "Stupida" went straight to number one, and her first album Senza nuvole spent four weeks at the top of the Italian Albums Chart, eventually going triple platinum. She has since topped that chart eight times across nine studio albums, selling over 3 million records in Italy. Amoroso's sound spans pop, soul, R&B and latin, and she has worked alongside a wide range of Italian heavyweights including Tiziano Ferro, Loredana Bertè, Fedez and Fiorella Mannoia. In 2014 she became the first Italian woman to win the MTV Europe Music Award for Best European Act, going on to collect three of those awards in total alongside seven Wind Music Awards. She has also stepped in front of the camera, appearing in the 2015 film Io che amo solo te.
