Alice Glass built her reputation as the co founder and frontwoman of Crystal Castles, the Canadian electronic duo whose self titled debut dropped in 2008 and kicked off a trilogy of critically praised records. She co wrote every Crystal Castles track she sang on, and her confrontational, high energy performances made her one of the most distinctive faces in electronic music. After leaving the band in 2014 and later publicly accusing her former partner of abuse, she channelled that experience directly into her solo work. Her 2015 debut solo single "Stillbirth" was tied to a donation campaign with anti assault organisation RAINN, setting the tone for music that never shies away from difficult subject matter. She followed that with her self titled EP in 2017, a run of standalone singles including "Forgiveness" and "I Trusted You", and her full debut album Prey//IV in February 2022. Sitting somewhere between electro industrial, noise pop and hyperpop, her solo output is rawer and more personal than anything Crystal Castles ever put out.
