About
Alquin spent the 1970s as one of the Netherlands' most interesting progressive rock outfits, releasing four studio albums on Polydor before splitting in 1977. Their records from that era, including Marks, Mountain Queen, Nobody Can Wait Forever and Best Kept Secret, have kept their reputation alive through various reissues and compilations over the decades. The band is from Delft, and their sound sits firmly in the classic European prog tradition. After a long absence they came back in 2003 with a live release, One More Night, and then followed it up with Blue Planet in 2005, their first studio album in nearly thirty years. They kept going after that too, putting out Sailors And Sinners in 2009 via Universal. Few Dutch prog bands from that generation managed to sustain that kind of second chapter.
