Andra And The Backbone grew out of the solo vision of Andra Ramadhan, guitarist of the hugely popular Indonesian band Dewa 19, who also had a hand in Ahmad Band. Rather than going it alone in the strictest sense, he built a proper group around himself, with Stevie Item on guitar and backing vocals and Dedy Lisan handling lead vocals. The band released their self titled debut album in 2007 on EMI Indonesia, a twelve track record that quickly made its mark. Their first single "Musnah" became a massive hit, topping charts across Indonesia, and follow up tracks "Sempurna" and "Lagi..dan lagi" kept the momentum going. It's the kind of rock that clearly resonated far beyond a niche crowd.
