About
Also known as: Antagonist, Antagonist AD
Antagonist A.D. are a metalcore band out of Auckland, New Zealand, and they have never been shy about what they stand for. Their lyrics take direct aim at racism, sexism and animal exploitation, and every member walks the talk as a vegan or vegetarian. They are vocal Sea Shepherd supporters, which gives their music a sense of purpose that goes well beyond the pit. Formed in 2005, they built their reputation the hard way, touring relentlessly across New Zealand, Australia and Southeast Asia before breaking into the US and European circuits. They have shared stages with Parkway Drive, Earth Crisis, The Ghost Inside and Emmure, and have released records on Trial and Error and Mediaskare. Their most recent album, Through Fire All Things Are Renewed, was recorded by Kurt Ballou at GodCity and came out across a vinyl series before landing as a full LP in 2022.
