About
Ara is a singer songwriter from Tilburg who weaves ancient Armenian folk music into contemporary pop and cinematic soundscapes. He performs with a full band, strings, and the Armenian duduk, a wind instrument whose sound sits somewhere between haunting and heartbreaking, and the combination produces something genuinely hard to place in any obvious genre. His debut EP Where The Lilies Bloom In Ruins introduced him to wider audiences, and he followed that up with a second EP titled Is Nothing Sacred Anymore?, which circles around themes of ancestry, loss, and identity in a world that keeps shifting beneath your feet. Before all this he was a street musician, and somewhere along the way he caught the attention of established acts, landing a support slot on Racoon's national tour.
