Arno Carstens made his name as the frontman of South African rock act Springbok Nude Girls, a run that stretched across multiple platinum selling albums and festival headline slots through the late 1990s and into the 2000s. The band earned him awards for Best Rock Album and Best Alternative Album, and he has headlined every major South African music festival as well as playing Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight Festival and T in the Park. Along the way he has shared stages with The Rolling Stones, U2, The Police and Simple Minds, among others. His solo career has been just as busy, with a string of albums including Wonderful Wild, Atari Gala and Lightning Prevails, plus a notable guest turn as lead vocalist on three tracks of the Mike and the Mechanics 2011 album The Road. Beyond music, Carstens is also a practicing fine artist working in oil on canvas and digital art, with work that sells internationally. His 2024 official video for Hoe Gaan Dit shows he is still very much active.
