Few voices defined an era quite like Art Garfunkel's. As one half of Simon & Garfunkel, he helped shape the sound of the 1960s through a run of songs that still feel inescapable: "The Sound of Silence", "Mrs. Robinson", "Scarborough Fair", "The Boxer", and "Bridge over Troubled Water". That last track closed out the duo's final studio album in 1970, and its title has never really left the cultural conversation. In 1990, Simon and Garfunkel were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Rolling Stone placed Garfunkel at number 86 on its list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. On his own, Garfunkel racked up two UK number ones and a string of Adult Contemporary hits, earning eight Grammy Awards in total, including a Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also worked as an actor and a poet alongside his music career. The pair have reunited periodically over the years, including a performance at the 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert in 2009, and Garfunkel has been known to share the stage with his son Arthur Jr.
