About

Few Irish bands have had a comeback story quite like Aslan's. After their 1988 debut Feel No Shame went to number one in Ireland and earned a gold certification, the whole thing nearly fell apart when frontman Christy Dignam was fired over a heroin addiction, and the band dissolved shortly after. They reunited in 1993 with what was supposed to be a one off charity gig in Finglas, but the chemistry was undeniable. Their single "Crazy World" shot into the Irish chart at number four and won Single of the Year at the Hot Press Awards, setting off a second chapter that arguably outshone the first. Over the years, Aslan built a reputation as one of Ireland's most dependable live acts, repeatedly selling out the 9,000 capacity Point Theatre and even touring Australia and the Netherlands. Their compilation Shame About Lucy Moonhead went double platinum and hit number one, while their live album Made In Dublin did the same in its first week. Six studio albums in total, with later records like Waiting for This Madness to End debuting at number one and going platinum within a month. They also collaborated with Alabama 3 and featured Sinéad O'Connor and Damien Dempsey on various tracks along the way.
