Astrosoniq are a five piece stoner rock outfit from Oss in the Netherlands, and they have a sound that is hard to pin down in the best possible way. Heavy, psychedelic guitar riffs sit at the core of everything they do, but they layer in sound clips from old movies and Wonder Woman episodes, sending the whole thing into a kind of cosmic fantasy territory. Think classic heavy rock foundations with a serious space age drift on top. Their discography stretches back to 2000 with Son of A.P. Lady, and they have released a string of full lengths and EPs across labels including Freebird, Spacejam, and Suburban Records. A fun detail: every single album cover features hair growing out of skin, which tells you something about the band's commitment to a distinct, slightly unsettling aesthetic. Drummer Marcel van de Vondervoort also handles production and mixing, keeping the whole operation tightly in house.
