About
Babs is a rapper and producer from Leiden whose music sits at a sharp intersection of socially aware lyricism and catchy, self produced pop beats. Her songs pack in personal stories and topical observations, all delivered with a dry wit and a knack for self deprecation. Her debut EP 'Ruimtevrees' came out in 2021, and from there things moved quickly: festival appearances at Noorderslag, Paaspop, Dauwpop and Zwarte Cross followed, while her track 'Bennie Boos' picked up a nomination for Song of the Year. In 2024 she also appeared on the popular Dutch TV show Wie is de Mol? Live, Babs performs with a tight band that includes her twin brother on keys and as MC, a combination that gets crowds moving without letting the depth of her lyrics get lost in the process. She has completed two sold out club tours across the Netherlands, and her second album is titled 'De Club Is Stuk'.
