With over 150 million records sold, the Backstreet Boys are the best selling boy band of all time, and they've kept that claim alive long after most acts from their era faded out. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson built their sound around tight harmonies and polished pop production, breaking through in Europe before dominating globally. Their 1999 album Millennium, anchored by the inescapable "I Want It That Way", went diamond in the US, as did their debut. Their 2019 album DNA hit number one, nineteen years after they last topped the charts, making them the first boy band to lead the US album charts in three decades. The group never really stopped. A Christmas album arrived in 2022, and in 2025 they released Millennium 2.0, a remastered and expanded version of their landmark third record, complete with B sides, live cuts and demos. That same year they launched a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas called Into the Millennium, and they even put out a fresh take on "I Want It That Way" for its anniversary.
