Backyard Babies have spent decades being the band that made sleaze rock stick in Scandinavia, dragging the sound of the New York Dolls and the Ramones into Swedish garages and festival stages. Formed in Nässjö in 1987, they hit their stride with Total 13, an album critics lined up to compare to the great punk and glam punk records of the past. Their single "Minus Celsius" even found a second life as a playable track in Guitar Hero III, and "Degenerated" followed as downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour. Their 2003 album Stockholm Syndrome won them a Swedish Grammy and showed a rawer, more energetic side, while their 2008 self titled record went all the way to number one on the Swedish albums chart. They have shared stages with AC/DC, Motörhead, and Alice Cooper along the way. Their eighth studio album, Sliver and Gold, arrived in 2019, and as of 2022 the band was on a break while guitarist Dregen focused on The Hellacopters, though he confirmed more Backyard Babies music is planned.
