About
Bandalos Chinos built their sound around a blend of indie pop, funk and psychedelic textures that sets them apart in the Latin alternative scene. The Buenos Aires six piece have five studio albums to their name, and their 2018 record BACH, tracked at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas and produced by Adán Jodorowsky, earned them a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album as well as a Gardel Award for Best Pop Group Album. Their name, by the way, came from a soundman mishearing 'los chicos' as 'los chinos' at an early gig, and it stuck. Their 2020 follow up Paranoia Pop, also produced by Jodorowsky and recorded at the same Texas studio, brought collaborations with LOUTA and Tei Shi, and they promoted it with a run of streaming concerts at the Movistar Arena. Influences like Luis Alberto Spinetta and Tame Impala give you a sense of the territory they operate in, somewhere between Argentine rock tradition and woozy, synth driven psychedelia. Most recently they released Vándalos in 2025, their fifth studio album.
