About
When British music journalist Simon Reynolds coined the term 'post rock' in 1994, Bark Psychosis were one of the London bands he pointed to as defining the sound. Led by Graham Sutton as the sole constant member, the group built their reputation on a genuinely unusual combination of moody atmospherics, murmured vocals, and a knack for moving from near silent whispers to thunderous metallic noise within the same record. Their 1994 album Hex stands as their landmark release, blending electronic and acoustic instrumentation in ways that still sound distinct today. Sutton reformed the project in 2004 with a rotating cast of guests that included Talk Talk drummer Lee Harris and experimental guitarist Colin Bradley, releasing the follow up Codename: Dustsucker that year. The band has been quiet since 2005, but their influence has only grown in their absence. What was once an obscure cult concern is now regularly cited as a foundational chapter in post rock, ambient, and experimental music.
