About
Also known as: B Gibb, B. Gibb, Barry Alan Crompton Gibb, Barry Alan Gibb
Barry Gibb holds a record shared only with John Lennon and Paul McCartney: six consecutive number ones on the Billboard Hot 100 as a songwriter. As the founder and last surviving member of the Bee Gees, he helped shape one of the most commercially successful groups in pop history, and Guinness World Records lists him as the second most successful songwriter ever, behind only McCartney. His voice is a big part of what made the Bee Gees instantly recognisable, with a falsetto that could cut through anything. Over a career spanning more than seven decades, Gibb has written or co written sixteen Billboard Hot 100 number ones, been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and earned a knighthood in 2018 for services to music and charity. Q magazine once ranked him among the hundred greatest singers of all time. The accolades are extensive, but the songs speak louder.
