Beach Weather built a quiet cult following through a string of EPs in the mid 2010s, then went on an indefinite hiatus before the internet brought them roaring back. It was TikTok that did it: their 2016 track "Sex, Drugs, Etc." went viral in mid 2022, ended up topping the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart, and eventually went Platinum. Not bad for a song that had been sitting on an EP for six years. The band came back swinging with their debut full length, Pineapple Sunrise, in March 2023 through Arista Records, and followed it up with their second album, Melt, in October 2024. Fronted by Nick Santino, with producer Sean Silverman stepping up as a full member after years behind the scenes, Beach Weather plays a brand of rock and roll with real hooks. The comeback has been anything but a nostalgia trip.
