About
Beddy Rays play what's been called rollicking coastal punk rock, and they do it like four mates who never stopped hanging out. The Redland Bay band got their big break with the 2020 single "Sobercoaster", which landed them a Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist spot that year. They've since supported Tones and I, Dune Rats and Hockey Dad, and covered Thelma Plum's "Better In Blak" for Triple J's Like A Version in 2021. Their name is a spoonerism of Redland Bay, and the band is Jackson Van Issum, Lewis McKenna, Bradley O'Connor and Benjamin Wade, all of whom work as tradies. That trade work helped them score some of their first shows around Brisbane venues. Their self titled debut album arrived in 2022 and peaked at number 8 on the ARIA Charts, with cover art nodding to Green Day's Dookie. In April 2025 they followed it up with a second album, Do What Ya Wanna, alongside the video for "Pocket Rocket".
