About

Also known as: Belious Some, Belouise Some, Belouius Some, Neville Keighley

Best known for soundtracking one of the great John Hughes moments, Belouis Some's "Round, Round" appeared on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack and helped push the British synth pop artist well beyond club and college radio audiences in the US. Born Neville Keighley, he chose the name Belouis Some partly because he wanted something deliberately ambiguous, inspired by a riff on "Louie Louie" that eventually got shortened to just Some. His 1985 debut album Some People was recorded in New York with producers Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero, and featured an impressive cast including Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson from Chic, guitarist Carlos Alomar and Earl Slick. The singles "Imagination" and "Some People" both cracked the US Hot Dance Club Play chart, with the nudity courting "Imagination" video premiering at Studio 54. After the Pretty in Pink boost, "Imagination" was re issued in the UK and finally became a proper hit there in spring 1986. He followed up with a self titled second album and later released Living Your Life in 1993 for BMG Records.
