About
Ben Weasel is the driving force behind Screeching Weasel, the Chicago punk rock band he co founded and has steered through more lineup changes and breakups than most acts would survive. The band has put out 15 studio albums, from their 1987 debut all the way through to The Awful Disclosures of Screeching Weasel in 2022, including a full rock opera called Baby Fat: Act 1. He has also released solo records, with Fidatevi in 2002 and These Ones Are Bitter in 2007 showing a more personal side of his songwriting. Beyond performing, Weasel has kept himself busy as a writer, a record label co founder, and even a low budget filmmaker. He ran the fanzine Panic Button, wrote a long running column for Maximum Rocknroll, published a novel called Like Hell, and co founded Panic Button Records in 1997. Screeching Weasel remain one of the most prolific acts in American punk, and Weasel shows no signs of slowing down.
