About
Also known as: Big Brave
BIG|BRAVE are a Montreal trio who take the raw materials of drone metal, sludge, and noise rock and stretch them into something genuinely unsettling. Guitarist and vocalist Robin Wattie, guitarist Mathieu Ball, and drummer Tasy Hudson build songs that are as much about texture and weight as they are about melody, creating this slow, suffocating tension that sets them apart from most of what gets filed under experimental metal. Ball and Wattie have been at it since 2012, with Hudson coming on board in 2019 to round out the current lineup. They have put out a serious body of work, including a collaborative record with The Body called Leaving None but Small Birds, and they have earned three Polaris Music Prize longlists for Vital, Nature Morte, and A Chaos of Flowers. Their output keeps growing too, with OST arriving in 2025 and In Grief or in Hope following in 2026.
