About
Emma Ruth Rundle is the rare artist who can slide from hushed ambient guitar pieces to full on sludge and doom territory without it feeling like a stunt. Before going solo, she fronted the folkgaze band the Nocturnes, played guitar in post rock outfit Red Sparowes, and formed the trio Marriages. Under the name The Headless Prince of Zolpidem she even made a creepy downtempo dark wave record, Somnambulant. Her solo run on Sargent House took off with Some Heavy Ocean in 2014, followed by Marked for Death, shaped partly by her struggles with adenomyosis, and On Dark Horses in 2018. She is also a visual artist and poet, and she teamed up with the sludge band Thou after the two shared a bill at Roadburn 2019. More recently she has been putting out videos like Powerless and Enough, plus a trailer for her Bella Vista Poetry Collection.
