About
Big Daddy Wilson has one of those stories that makes his music feel earned. Born in North Carolina and shaped by gospel and country radio, he ended up stationed with the US Army in Germany, stumbled into a blues concert there, and never really left. He has called Germany home for nearly three decades, and that transatlantic identity runs all through his music: a rich, warm baritone rooted in the blues but comfortable drifting into soul and acoustic territory. Most of his recordings have come out on Ruf Records, the German label that gave him his international breakthrough with Love Is the Key in 2009. Since then he has built a serious live reputation, playing blues and jazz festivals across Europe, Australia and beyond. Deep in My Soul, recorded partly at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, showed him stretching his sound with full band production while keeping ten of the twelve tracks his own compositions.
