About
Also known as: BIG BANG, BigBang, ビッグバン, 빅뱅
BIGBANG's story starts on television. Their line up was shaped by a documentary series that ran from July 2006 until their debut that August, and the series ended with a final elimination round. Five members made it through: T.O.P, Daesung, Seungri, Taeyang and G DRAGON. A sixth trainee, Jang Hyunseung, who later became known as a member of B2ST and then HIGHLIGHT, was cut before the debut. The group launched at a YG Entertainment anniversary concert at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. Their first single, simply titled Bigbang, carried three tracks: We Belong Together, which featured Park Bom, later of 2NE1, plus A Fool of Tears and This Love. Two of those songs were adaptations of existing American singles. Often nicknamed the Kings of K Pop, they became one of the biggest names in the genre, blending k pop with hip hop and pop.
