Bishop Briggs built her reputation on massive, emotionally charged sound that blends alternative rock, soul and electronic textures, and her breakthrough single "River" made that clear fast. Released in 2016, it hit number 3 on the US Alternative Chart and has racked up over 485 million Spotify streams, including a memorable live performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that pulled in more than 260 million YouTube views on its own. Her debut album Church of Scars followed in 2018, and Island Records put out her second record Champion in 2019, which landed on The Young Folks Top 50 albums of that year. Since then, Briggs has kept pushing into deeply personal territory. After losing her sister and manager Kate to ovarian cancer in 2021, she channelled that grief into songs like "High Water" and "Art of Survival", performing the former on The Late Late Show with James Corden. She has also placed tracks on the NHL 23 soundtrack and the Netflix series Devil in Ohio, and competed on season nine of The Masked Singer as "Medusa".
