About
Black Bottle Riot never had a radio hit and never went viral, and they're fine with that. This Nijmegen band has spent twenty years building its name from a battered tour bus, one room at a time, carrying its own amps and winning people over on stage. They started in 2006, and their records trace a steady path: a self titled debut, then Soul in Exile, then Indigo Blues, where they first sounded properly dark and heavy, followed by Fire and That's Amore. Their sound mixes stoner rock, southern rock and blues rock, with boogie, big riffs and plenty of harmonica, and they cite Rory Gallagher, Thin Lizzy and The Black Crowes as influences. They've opened for ZZ Top and shared bills with Pearl Jam, The Black Keys, The War On Drugs, Black Stone Cherry and Rival Sons. Deliverance, a double album recorded live at Merleyn in Nijmegen, doubles as a best of, boiling twenty years of songs down to their loudest versions.
