About
Black Mountain have been carving out their own corner of heavy, hazy rock since forming in Vancouver in 2004. The band, led by Stephen McBean alongside Jeremy Schmidt, Amber Webber, Adam Bulgasem, and Arjan Miranda, deals in a thick blend of psychedelic rock, stoner metal and classic seventies influences, the kind of sound that sits comfortably next to Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd without ever feeling derivative. Across five albums, from their self titled debut in 2005 through to Destroyer in 2019, they have built a devoted following. Their second album In the Future was a finalist for the Polaris Music Prize and landed a song on the Spider Man 3 soundtrack. Destroyer kept the momentum going with tracks like "Let Spirits Ride" picking up TV placements and the band playing major festivals across Europe. McBean also runs Pink Mountaintops as a side project, while Webber splits time with Lightning Dust, but Black Mountain remains the mothership.
