Blackpink have been called the biggest girl group in the world, and the numbers back it up. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa came out of YG Entertainment's famously strict trainee system and debuted in August 2016 with the single album Square One, which gave them their first South Korean number one in "Whistle". The real breakthrough was "Ddu Du Ddu Du" in 2018, the first song by a Korean female group to enter the UK Singles Chart. Its video was the first from a Korean group to pass one and then two billion YouTube views. The records kept coming. "Kill This Love" and "How You Like That" each set marks for most views in the first 24 hours. Born Pink (2022) became the first album by a Korean girl group to top the US Billboard 200, and "Pink Venom" topped the Billboard Global 200. In 2023 they were the first Asian act to headline Coachella, and they are the most subscribed music act on YouTube.
