Few guitarists in rock and blues can claim a slide technique as instantly recognizable as Bonnie Raitt's, and even fewer have managed to stay genuinely relevant across five decades. The Burbank native built her reputation the hard way through the 1970s, releasing critically admired records and sharing stages with blues legends, but commercial success stayed just out of reach. That all changed with Nick of Time in 1989, produced by Don Was, which hit number one on the Billboard 200 and took home Album of the Year at the Grammys. She followed it with Luck of the Draw and Longing in Their Hearts, cementing a run that most artists would trade their whole career for. Her 2022 album Just Like That brought her full circle, winning Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Americana Album, proof that her mix of blues, folk, and rock still cuts through.
