Bowling for Soup built their reputation on punchy, self aware pop punk that never took itself too seriously, and it paid off. The Wichita Falls, Texas band scored their biggest moment with "1985", a song originally written by Mitch Allan of SR 71, which Bowling for Soup reworked with Allan's blessing and rode all the way to No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their Grammy nomination for "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" is the stuff of legend too, though frontman Jaret Reddick has said the real highlight of that night was being named worst dressed by Joan Rivers. They've got more pop culture reach than most bands their size. They recorded the theme song for the Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb, covered Britney Spears for the Freaky Friday soundtrack, and had their take on A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran (So Far Away)" open an anime series in North America. Singles like "Almost", "High School Never Ends" and "Punk Rock 101" kept them a fixture on pop punk playlists long after their commercial peak.
