Brainbombs have spent decades being one of the most genuinely unsettling acts in underground music, and they wear that reputation without apology. The Swedish garage punk group formed in Hudiksvall in 1985 and built a sound around relentless repetition, deliberately untuned guitars, and a noise rock ferocity that feels closer to an assault than a performance. Their lyrics deal in rape, murder, and torture, drawing comparisons to the extreme writings of Peter Sotos, whom the band has cited as an influence alongside Chrome, James Chance, and Whitehouse. Even their name comes from a Punishment of Luxury song, so the lineage of confrontation runs deep. Their discography stretches across more than a dozen releases, from their 1992 debut Burning Hell through to Inferno and Cold Case in the late 2010s and early 2020s. The lineup features Peter Råberg on vocals, Jonas Tiljander and Lanchy Orre on guitars, Drajan Bryngelsson on drums, Dan Råberg on trumpet, and Mattis Rundgren on bass.
