About

Also known as: Randall Todd Findell, Randy Findell

Brakence is the kind of artist who makes hyperpop sound like it grew up on Midwest emo. Randy Findell, from Columbus, Ohio, blends glitchy production with emo rap and swings between a low baritone and a high falsetto, which gives his songs a shaky, confessional feel. He started putting music on SoundCloud in 2016 and later dropped out of Ohio State University, a move that fed straight into his 2020 single "Dropout". His breakthrough came with the album Punk2, and he signed to Columbia Records in April 2020. He followed it with singles like "Argyle" in 2021, then the second album Hypochondriac in December 2022. In 2025 he popped up as a feature on "Sleepwalker" by Aries. After a few years without a full studio record, he returned with the album MarroW.
