Few guitarists have successfully revived two different eras of American music, but Brian Setzer pulled it off twice. First came the rockabilly wave of the early 1980s, when his band Stray Cats stormed London and came back with hits like "Rock This Town" and "Stray Cat Strut". Then, after a solo detour through R&B and blues rock territory, he assembled the Brian Setzer Orchestra, a seventeen piece big band that brought swing back into the mainstream with a cover of Louis Prima's "Jump, Jive an' Wail" from the 1998 album The Dirty Boogie. That track won him a Grammy, and "Sleep Walk" from the same record took home another. His 2007 orchestral album Wolfgang's Big Night Out tackled classical pieces by Beethoven, earning an eighth Grammy nomination, this time for Best Classical Crossover Album. More recently, he has been sharing footage of his beloved 1959 Gretsch 6120, a guitar as closely linked to his identity as the music itself.
