Briston Maroney writes the kind of guitar driven indie rock that sounds like it belongs on a long drive with nowhere specific to be, which is basically what his Gold certified track "Freakin' Out on the Interstate" captures perfectly. Signed to Canvasback Music and Atlantic Records, the Knoxville raised singer songwriter has built a catalog that draws on influences as varied as John Prine, Bob Dylan, and indie acts like Wallows and The Districts. His 2019 EP Indiana mapped the restless stretch of his life spent bouncing between Knoxville, California, Florida, and Nashville, and caught a significant boost when Taylor Swift added "Fool's Gold" to one of her Apple Music playlists. He has since kept the momentum going, performing at Austin City Limits and opening for acts like Wallows on tour. His third studio album Jimmy dropped in May 2025, the latest chapter from an artist who keeps finding new ways to soundtrack the uncertain in between.
