British India have been quietly flying the flag for Melbourne indie rock since the mid 2000s, building a catalogue of six studio albums that documents a band growing steadily into bigger rooms. Their early records, produced by Australian legend Harry Vanda, had a raw, wiry energy influenced by the likes of The Strokes and The White Stripes, and Triple J was quick to pick up on it. Singles like "Tie Up My Hands" and "Run the Red Light" landed in the Hottest 100, and their second album Thieves cracked the top five on the ARIA charts. By 2015 they were headlining the main stage at Byron Bay Bluesfest as a last minute replacement for The Black Keys, which says plenty about how far they had come. Their sixth album Forgetting the Future, recorded with Oscar Dawson of Holy Holy, arrived in 2017, and more recently they have been putting music out including tracks like "Suddenly" and "I Can Make You Love Me", the latter a Gold certified single that reached the top 40 of the Triple J Hottest 100.
